Ever wondered how Girls LOVE Travel became
the biggest online community of women identifying travelers?
About Us
How It All Began
Girls LOVE Travel is a Facebook-based travel community founded by Haley Woods in 2015.
The community’s focus is on safety, socializing, and support for travelers who self-identify as female, or non-binary. Haley started this group as a way to connect with other travel-loving women worldwide.Β
Now home to over 1 million members, GLT has become a charismatic community of hodophiles (travel lovers!) that provides the go-to source of travel knowledge for womxn-identifying travelers worldwide. At its core, Girls LOVE Travel remains dedicated to serving the community by providing opportunities to connect with fellow GLTers around the world, both in-person and virtually, grounded by our love for all things travel.Β
Why "GIRLS"
Many have joined wondering why I chose the term "Girls" for the name of the community: Girls LOVE Travel.
The Girls LOVE Travel brand chooses to support womxn travelers specifically because they aim to create a community of womxn-identifying travelers who share common experiences and perspectives. Although the brand recognizes that not all members identify as “girls,” when we travel and explore the world — that “wide-eye” wonder — that child-like excitement… Those feelings connect each and every one of us within this community. Β Therefore, they want to create a space where womxn travelers can come together, form connections, and build friendships based on their shared love of travel.
Girls LOVE Travel Handsign
The GLT hand sign is used as a way for Girls LOVE Travel community members to connect with each other and show their love for travel. It is the American Sign Language for “I Love You.” While the same hand gesture flying over oneβs head symbolizes βairplane,” which aligns with the community’s logo of a heart and a plane. By using this hand sign, GLTers can identify each other and share their passion for travel, creating a sense of belonging and unity within the community.
